Granite

Granite is one of the most popular choices of stone with good reason. Granite is not only beautiful and comes in a huge variety of styles, but it is also durable, scratch resistant and  a completely natural stone.

Pros:

  • Durable, natural stone in a solid slab

  • Can be cut on (may dull your knives)

Cons:

  • Porous and more proned to staining (should be sealed every few years)

  • can chip if heavy items are dropped on it

Quartz

While Quartz is typically thought of as a natural stone, it is actually engineered. Many different ground up minerals, resins and pigments are combined to make these slabs, which offers many benefits like natural stone, without some of the drawbacks. They require a manufactured finish which allows the ability to create any kind of look. while not needing to sacrifice quality.

Pros:

  • Wide color range

  • Less prone to cracking & chipping

  • Easier to maintain without staining

Cons:

  • Typically more expensive

Pros:

  • Beautiful unique designs

  • can be shaped easier

Cons:

  • Most susceptible to staining, cracking and scratching
